My Community

Environmental Programs

Showing concern for the communities we serve means being good stewards of our environment. Coast Electric employees spend hours donating their time and efforts to various environmental projects that ensure the natural beauty of our communities is preserved.

At Coast Electric, we believe in the power of community and in being good stewards of our environment. Each year, our employees spend countless hours cleaning our roads and waterways, safely disposing of hazardous materials at Household Hazardous Waste Day and educating our members on the importance of recycling and sustainability.

In celebration of Earth month in April, our offices will be decorated to reflect the ways in which our members can reduce, reuse and recycle to help protect this place we call home. Our offices are also stocked with giveaway items to help you practice environmental concern.

If you plan to spend some time this month celebrating Earth month, be sure to practice safety first. Before you dig that post hole for a flower bed, be aware that there could be underground power lines right where you’re about to dig and be sure to call 811 to locate underground lines. Unplug and save on Earth Day and every day!

Household Hazardous Waste Day

household chemicals

Coast Electric, along with the Hancock County Board of Supervisors and the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, sponsors a Household Hazardous Waste Day. Each year, employees volunteer to offload hazardous waste from hundreds of vehicles that drop off tons of tires, paint, old electronics, chemicals and more to ensure proper disposal.

Mississippi Adopt-A-Highway

MS DOT Adopt a Highway

Coast Electric employees volunteer each quarter to clean stretches of highway in Hancock, Harrison and Pearl River counties as part of the Mississippi Department of Transportation's Adopt-A-Highway program.

Land and Waterway Cleanups

Waterways and Rivers

Employees participate in a variety of land and waterway cleanups throughout the year. Coast Electric representatives are active in Renew our Rivers efforts, Friends of Boley Creek events and even began their own cleanup of McLeod Park. The efforts of these dedicated volunteers mean others are able to enjoy our waterways and green spaces.
