Coast Electric Prepares for Hurricane Francine – Offices to Close at 4 p.m. Sept. 11

Tropical Storm Francine is predicted to affect our service area Wednesday evening and early Thursday morning. Coast Electric employees are ready to respond as well as an additional 100 right of way crew members and 200 line workers. Our crews will work to restore outages today and tonight until conditions make it unsafe to do so, and will be out again as soon as they can safely start the assessment and restoration process.

Please note that electric restoration will be first priority and restoration of the CoastConnect fiber system will begin as soon as power is restored.

With the threat of high winds and heavy rain, power outages are likely. If you have an outage, you can report it in the following ways:

  • Visit www.coastelectric.coop and click “Report/View Outage.”
  • Text “Join” to 228-338-4644 if you have a mobile number associated with your account. If you’ve already joined, text “Outage” to report an outage. Take time now to log in to your account to make sure we have your up-to-date information. To use our outage texting system, you must have a mobile number associated with your account.
  • Download our CE on the Go mobile app.
  • Call 877-769-2372. We typically experience high call volume during a major outage, so we recommend one of the above methods to get your information directly to our outage management system in seconds, rather than waiting on hold.

Remember, we cannot take outage reports on social media. Our social media outlets are not tied to our outage management system so dispatchers can’t see your report or assign a crew to restore your power.
